"The one-two kick drum beat that starts 'In the Dark of the Night' functions as a bit of a tease. Instead of merely establishing the languid pace of the track, it has the power of suggestion, and its stark nakedness raises the question of what will happen after the music fully launches. A few seconds later, a punch-drunk, flanging keyboard is the first clue that the listener is in for an off-kilter ride; the sauntering bassline that next appears adds a springy, funk bounce. But it's the tripped-out, multi-tracked vocals of Fernando Miranda Rios -- a.k.a. Michoacan, the producer behind this slow reveal -- that give the song its peculiar, space-y vibe. It's like David Byrne with funk aspirations and a vaguely cosmic feel. The B-side remix, courtesy of Italy's Clap Rules, feels like more of a re-build. The song has been taken apart and put back together with brand new parts. Instead of more relaxed, dazed funk at the core, it's a glittery, disco-ballsplattered track with glossy keys all around."

"DFA lynchpin and LCD Soundsystem honcho James Murphy returns with a brand new single taken from his highly anticipated debut album. As for what 'Movement' is about....in James' own words...'That's mostly about the 'new rock', which is a movement without the bother of having any meaning. You know a journalistic movement that announces, 'Rock is back! The guitar is back!' Whoo-hoo. But for what? Its like saying, 'The high-waisted pant is back!' Its fucking vacuous and the bands are tedious. They all sound like The MC5. I get excited about The White Stripes 'cos they're some people who are obviously trying to do something of their own. But most bands will never be good because they don't even ask themselves why they're bothering until its too late.' This is probably a good time to bring up the major influence on James's vocal style. The Fall's Mark E Smith haunts this album's more testy testimonies. James makes no attempt to pretend it's an accident. 'Movement' is released on 2 track CD and 7" backed with another new (and exclusive) track 'Yr City's A Sucker'."
