Sonedo is a scene-builder. The Japanese-Scottish producer, pianist and bandleader is pioneering a vital new UK sound that threads jazz improvisation with rap and grime. His music is collaborative and elastic, a blend of live instrumentation interwoven with MCs and vocalists. Equally, at home in a jazz setting or in the club, he has earned support from Jamz Supernova and Gilles Peterson on BBC Radio 6 Music for his work with Rebecca Vasmant; received the Peter Whittingham Jazz Development Award; and headlined his debut show at Lancaster Jazz Festival, cementing his place as one of most compelling new voices bridging Scotland's jazz and rap communities. Sonedo grew up surrounded by a large Japanese family, first finding his voice at the piano in his cousin's house at the age of seven. Now based in Glasgow and completing his studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, he is emerging as a distinctive new presence in UK jazz. A lifelong fan of A Tribe Called Quest, J. Cole and particularly Kendrick Lamar, his sound also draws from jazz innovators such as Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea, alongside the modern UK movement led by Alfa Mist, Yussef Dayes, Venna and Glasgow's own Corto.Alto. As long-standing Musical Director and bandleader for BEMZ (winner of the BBC Introducing Scottish Act of the Year Award), Sonedo has become an indispensable bridge between the Scottish jazz and rap scenes, and he has overseen expansive live sets at venues including SWG3 and festivals such as Kelburn Garden Party. His production work reflects the same cross-genre fluency. His collaborative projects span house and jungle-inflected drum & bass, and he has also brought his hybrid live approach into electronic spaces, performing at Edinburgh's FLY Open Air where he played keys alongside DJs. A rapidly rising talent, Sonedo continues to expand on a signature sound that at its core is collaborative, culturally fluid, and firmly rooted in both jazz tradition and contemporary UK club culture. Berlin-based Swedish singer-songwriter Nadya Albertsson returns with her most personal work to date. Simultaneity (同時性) is a musical attempt to represent a journey of a spirit which seeks warmth, contentedness and ultimately the answer to his question of existence. The word "simultaneity" is a technical term from the theory of special relativity representing two distinct events happening at the same time. This fluidity is embodied in the musical exploration of Ari Tsugi. Comprised of mostly self-taught musicians, the soundscape is a unique melting pot of UK Jazz scenes and the raw energy that comes from psychedelic rock. Produced and mixed by Glasgow-based musician Sam Bancroft (Starsky-Rae) alongside engineer-producer Villus Vilo Jokubaitis, the album features offerings from Liam Shorthall and India Blue (Azamiah) alongside the original Ari Tsugi trio -- Clement Gaud, Joe Weisberg, and Mashu Harada -- with keys from Angus MacDonald being added later down the line. Now consisting of eight members, including bass, vocals, flute and cello, Ari Tsugi have had multiple DIY residencies in Glasgow, London, and Epinal (France). They have toured through Europe, playing at various jazz bars and small underground venues, always playing one rehearsed set and one improvised set with a guest musician. They have showcased their talents at festivals including Karakumai Festival (Lithuania) and Tranzl8tor Festival (Germany). Also featuring Iona Bermon, Mateusz Sobieski, Peter Konecny, Ben Boswell Jones, Finn Rosenbaum, and Lene De Montaigu.

Glaswegian musician, producer, DJ and curator Rebecca Vasmant announces her debut LP With Love, From Glasgow, showcasing the breadth of the incredible jazz talent the city has to offer. Having made a name for herself with a residency at Sub Club, Rebecca took the lead in curating the first live Jazz showcases at the venue, also running a popular record fair with the venerable venue and a spot on BBC Radio Scotland and Worldwide FM. Rebecca also airs this facet of her irrepressible musical passion at key events like Worldwide Festival Sete, Glasgow Jazz Festival, EFG London Jazz Festival, Jazz Cafe London, Kasheme Zurich, Brilliant Corners, Casper Montenegro, and the BalticSoul Weekender, and a new residency at Ronnie Scott's as part of the "Panro" collective. While promoting and touring in over 22 countries constantly over the last five years, Rebecca has honed her craft on production projects which feature world class musicians from The Scottish National Jazz Orchestra and more, her talents are not only in spinning records, but in composing, producing and performing. Though known for its rich musical heritage, Glasgow is not a city perhaps synonymous with jazz. However, on With Love, From Glasgow this is all about to change, as Rebecca and her cohort of hand-picked musicians set out to change people's opinions. Rebecca explains: "There is such crazy wealth of talent in this city of Glasgow and I wanted to make an album that helped to demonstrate this and which captures my own love and passion for deep and spiritual music. This album highlights just some of the exciting things that are happening here in Scotland and it's been a real honor and pleasure working with the hugely talented musicians who came together to collaborate in such a free and beautiful way.
