"Guided By Voices' last album Thick Rich And Delicious was lauded by NPR's All Things Considered and picked #1 on Magnet Magazine's Best Albums Of 2025. The single 'We Outlast Them All' from this latest, Crawlspace Of The Pantheon, is an anthemic victory lap on album #44 from the indie rock stalwarts. Robert Pollard told Rolling Stone: ''We Outlast Them All' could be our 'We Are The Champions' but it's not necessarily about us. It's about anyone who perseveres over a long period of time.' On Crawlspace Of The Pantheon: 'I worked much more diligently on this set of lyrics. I chiseled away at lines and sections and phrasings. I wanted them to have an overall emotionally conceptual feel. At times it feels somewhat autobiographical.'"

"Robert Pollard: 'I'm a student of hooks. That perfect combination of a lyric and a chord pattern that gives you that chill up the back of your spine.' Thick Rich And Delicious overflows with hooks. It plays through front-to-back like a power pop classic, but don't misconstrue pop for soft. The basic tracks were cut live and hot to tape and are presented with minimal overdubs. The band recorded in a Brooklyn studio at extreme volumes, conjuring the spontaneity and electric energy of their legendary live show. Complimenting Pollard's lead vocals, harmonies are sung by Grammy-nominated Bobby Bare Jr and Pollard (aka 'The Self-Righteous Bros'). The sound delivers on the album's titular promise -- thick, rich and delicious. Pollard combines a new batch of songs with a basket of unrecorded gems dating back to the band's nascent years. The chorus of 'Oxford Talawanda' contains a never-used hook that Pollard has been singing for nearly his entire life. With Thick Rich And Delicious, you can get that satisfaction."

LP version. "Universe Room is the eighteenth Guided By Voices album in ten years and packs a vast mix of energy levels and sounds into seventeen diverse tracks in less than forty minutes. The new record ventures into truly surprising territory, where barely any song segments and choruses are revisited and fidelity daringly shifts between lo-fi and hi-fi. 'I wanted to create, hopefully, an experience, kind of a wild ride, where the listener would want to hear it multiple times in order to grasp all the sections and fields of sound to discover something new with each listen,' says Robert Pollard. 'I trimmed down the songs so that there wasn't a lot of repetition, so you get a lot of sections that happen only once or twice.' Universe Room embodies a realm of new horizons for Guided By Voices, who continue to redefine and expand as they blast off to unpredictable worlds."

"Building on forty years of GBV history, the majestic and triumphant Strut Of Kings is the forty-first album by indie rock royalty Guided By Voices. Largely recorded in Kings County, New York (Brooklyn), the album is perhaps a gesture towards the malevolent 'kings' on the world stage. As the 'Serene King' waltzes across the battlefield, Emperor Pollard evokes castles, King Kong and strutting roosters, a surreal yet regal journey."
