Everland present the first ever reissue of Alex Brown's In Search Of Love, originally released in 1970. This extremely well-crafted LP from 1970 is like a holy grail for sixties soul lovers. Just a few hundred promo-only copies were pressed on Sundi Records at the time and clean originals now fetch at least four figure sums. Singer-songwriter Alexandra Brown has worked extensively as a back-up singer with Ray Charles as member of the Raeletts, and with Monk Higgins with whom she wrote and recorded many tracks for his albums and soundtrack projects. Higgins also arranged, conducted, produced, and co-wrote this amazingly great LP, incredibly Alex's one-and-only solo album. It comes in pristine sound quality, drawn from the best known original sources. First ever CD version.

Everland present a reissue of Ruby Andrews's Black Ruby, originally released in 1972. Although for the longest time she has been a Chicago resident, Ruby Andrews's wonderfully dramatic vocals sounds like straight from the deep south of the USA. Actually, that is where she was born in Hollandale, Mississippi, in 1947. She recorded at least six albums that are each highly treasured by soul and funk fans all over the world. Black Ruby, the brilliant second LP from this marvelous soul singer first appeared on the Zodiac label in 1972. Just one minor nationally charted hit came off the LP. But as a whole it is even more revered than her hit-laden predecessor among soul aficionado's. It's considered an exemplary classic of a deep- and Chicago-soul. The music has re-appeared some times in one form or another but the LP was never before fully reissued on high quality vinyl. Everland present the Black Ruby with that beautifully designed and shiny psychedelic album cover. A true gem indeed.

Ebonystic hailed from Aiken, South Carolina and were led by Lester Smalls. The group had some members from nearby Augusta, Georgia and they recorded the lovely ballad "Married To One In Love With Another". Smalls's heartfelt lead has minimal group backing, reinforced with some heavyweight horns. Soon after this 45 came out on Scream Records in 1974, the group changed its name to Hearts Of Fire -- there are copies of the disc with the new name inked in and Ebonystic scored out. The B side is a bit unusual, up-tempo dancer with some weird sound ingredients.

Very little is known about the apparent duo Stevens & Foster who had this self-produced release in 1977 on the Jerri Records label from Atlanta, Georgia. Nevertheless, original copies are now very scarce and crazy expensive. For decades, the B side's piano intro has rescued a DJ's dancefloor all over Europe with its seductive qualities of lush strings, muted wah-wah, simplistic but addictive piano. In more recent times it is the A side has also gathered a strong following, using the same instrumental approach but taking the pace right down. Fully restored and officially licensed.

This very high quality double-sided 45 features Billy Byrd's throaty vocals on two classic songs. Top drawer modern soul with an irresistible heavy beat, courtesy of producer Calvin Arnold, the Georgia native known for his pretty diverse and very well-crafted soul and funk output. The music was arranged by Tommy Stuart and Frankie Wynn. Most likely it was Arnold's influence that gave this record such a solid, intense rhythm. Upon its release in 1973 this record went nowhere and has remained extremely scarce ever since. Officially reissued, fully licensed, and restored from the original master tapes.

Everland present a reissue of Snoopy Dean's Wiggle That Thing, originally released in 1977. The late Nathaniel "Snoopy" Dean is one of those many underrated southern soul and blues men who never reached great fame outside their home ground. His legacy is deeply treasured though by hardcore black music followers. In the late sixties he instigated the now very sought-after group Third Guitar who recorded some great sides for the Rojac Records out of New York City. He subsequently became a member of the Deep City Band and started recording under his own name. In the early to mid-seventies Dean made five singles and an album Wiggle That Thing on Henry Stone's Blue Candle imprint which is being reissued here. The album -- originally released in 1977 -- contains a rare combination of deep, southern soul, funk, and blues in such a way that the LP really does not fall straight in neither category. In the '80s Snoopy Dean became a much in demand session musician as a guitarist in Miami and recorded at least two more albums that belong more in the blues and indie soul field. Unfortunately, Snoopy Dean died in 1998 due to complications arising from diabetes. He will always be remembered for his great album Wiggle That Thing.

Everland present a reissue of the Tutt Band's self-titled album, originally released in 1988. This is the only album from the Tutt Band known to ever be recorded. The ultra-rare and sought-after boogie-funk LP on Spoonful Records out of Phoenix, Arizona was released in 1988, but style-wise it sounds much more like being recorded in 1983 or 1984. It contains ten very solid and good tracks -- both club tunes and slow jams -- that all hit the required spot. There's also some treats for all Roger Troutman and vocoder lovers. Head straight to the ultra-dank tracks "Get It On" and "She's Got It Going". In retrospect the Tutt Band has been one of the little known but essential groups whom created the funky and beat-heavy, new jack swing sound that dominated American R&B from the mid-eighties and early nineties.

Everland present a reissue of Gary's Chilling Out, originally released in 1983. In his late teens Rev. Gary Hairston wasn't only serving the Lord, he was also a member of funk outfit Opus 7 that recorded the great album Thoughts in 1979. Although it was distributed nationwide, the group album was not very successful. In 1983, the Winston-Salem, North Carolina native Gary Hairston delivered the now mega rare album Chilling Out, his debut solo-album under the moniker Gary. It was recorded under the auspices of legendary musician/producer Harry Deal at his Galaxie III studios. Now the album is a well sought after electro, funk, and boogie classic. Everland present the very first and official reissue of this previously almost unobtainable private press nugget.

Everland present a reissue of The Chapparrals' Shake Your Head, originally released in 1978. Shake Your Head is the only known album by this super-hot Atlanta, Georgia band. The Chapparrals were known for wild onstage antics, deep funky sounds, and for taking no prisoners when they opened for any of the numerous recording acts they had the pleasure of working with back in the '70s. These guys are a perfect summation of popular funk groove as their album is a blistering blend of bassy rhythms and tight instrumentation. It also includes mighty sweet keyboards that sneak wonderfully alongside the guitar and horns, sometimes with wild Moog-y touches that are almost Parliamant/Funkadelic. They performed with notables like The Commodores, The Isley Brothers, Sly & The Family Stone, Marvin Gaye, Graham Central Station, Kool & The Gang, Parliamant/Funkadelic, and many others. This great album is a compilation of hot, stingy tunes with horns, smooth ballads with strings, featuring both fast and slow funky songs with heavy rhythmic passages. A surefire holy grail funk and soul LP!

Starchild Jr., aka Garrett Shider of Funkadelic, is a seriously talented guitarist, much lauded and in-demand in the music industry. This might not be surprising considering Garrett was brought up on guitar, being the son of legendary Parliament / Funkadelic guitarist and musical director Garry Shider. Hand Me Down Diapers is a funky album that is a tribute from son to father, and it acts as an extension of P-Funk All Stars. Hand Me Down Diapers is a punchy versatile album with gorgeous guitars and harmony. It features the funk maestro himself, George Clinton, on "Rawlife Theme (On One)" as well as other band members of the current Funkadelic crew.

Everland present a reissue of O.T. Sykes's First Love, originally released in 1981. "Mr. O.T. Sykes is often and fondly called 'The Singing Dentist' but it's far from a joke. Dr. Sykes, who till this day never gave up his day job, chooses to do only top quality music. He will not sell out to an already overcrowded pop-market as this extremely well respected and very soulful LP from 1981 so eloquently proves. Within an international circle of connoisseurs O.T.Sykes ranks among the very best of soul singers. This is true soul music to the max and is written, played and produced by Jeffrey Singleton (The Frat, Frat Band, Autofrat) and Mr. Sykes himself, plus the cream of the rich music scene in Memphis, TN. Original copies are now really hard to come by so this long overdue and most carefully prepared reissue is more than welcome." --Marc Janssen

Everland present a reissue of Van Jones's Time Has Made Me New, originally released in 1981. "Here's one very rare early '80s soul and boogie LP, as clean original copies now fetch well over $500, if you can find it... This brand new and first official reissue ever contains the now classic modern soul dancer 'Not About That (Show Me Some Respect)' alongside some very attractive ballad material for the more dedicated soul fans. The elusive Van Jones from Pughsville, VA continued to record -- as he did since 1976 -- several 7" and 12" singles into the decade. But this highly sought after album from 1981 is widely considered as the definitive moment in his short though fruitful recording career." --Marc Janssen

Everland present a reissue of Obtala's self-titled album, originally released in 1977. "This well produced strong disco funk album is a hidden gem. The original is on many wants lists and rarely turns up. Heady disco funk from the glory days of the Miami soul scene in the '70s. This smoking album by the group Obatala is tight in a good way. Core funk energy mixed with some added strings and horns. A mode that's funky club, but never straight disco at all. Titles include 'April', 'Shades Of September', 'Disco Party', 'Funk-A-Fried', 'Tight Rope', and 'Work It Out'. A killer set throughout!" --Marc Janssen Licensed from Henry Stone Music.
