It's been a long, long time but finally it's here -- the second edition of Money Will Ruin Everything, Rune Grammofon's celebration of 5 more years of music. Originally planned as an update and slightly revised edition of the long deleted 2CD/book of the same name released in 2003, this has now turned into a completely new and quite gorgeous book. Completely redesigned and improved with new art from Kim Hiorthøy, more pages, slightly larger and with 4 different types of paper, it features graphic works, photos, video stills, used and unused sleeve art, complete discography and more. The essays on the musical and visual profiles of the label from the first book are included, as is the original interview Kim did with label founder Rune Kristoffersen in 2003. New to this edition is a new interview as well as forewards by Rough Trade founder Geoff Travis and David Fricke, senior editor at Rolling Stone magazine, in addition to essays by Wire editor Rob Young and design writer Adrian Shaughnessy. The musical content is also stronger with this edition, with 2 CDs of all-new, mostly exclusive tracks from Supersilent, Susanna and the Magical Orchestra, Arve Henriksen, Nils Økland, Deathprod, Shining, Humcrush, Ultralyd, Food/Nils Petter Molvær, Maja Ratkje, Box, Svalastog, Huntsville, Alog/Spunk, Opsvik & Jennings, Phonophani and more. At the launch of the first book, the folks at Rune Grammofon said that "although we like to look at ourselves as a progressive label, we have a certain nostalgic feeling regarding records and packaging. These days, when music is in danger of becoming even more fleeting and impersonal through downloading, we like to offer a collectable physical object worth owning." Five years later, this rings through even more, and we are very proud to see that it's possible for a small label to release something like this in our time. The first edition from 2003 sold out very quickly and has since been virtually impossible to trace on eBay and the secondhand market.
