The label La Troisième Note presents a pleasant-yet-erudite compilation simply entitled Love. A perfect bittersweet collection of frivolous ballads, lamentations under the sun and sublime harmonies with warm choirs and luxurious arrangements, recorded in the enchanting years of 1966-69. These 17 tracks of obscure British pop, West Coast melodies and sunshine pop, performed by unsung heroes such as Harpers Bizarre, Bill Fay and Margo Guryan, or by cult artists like Harry Nilsson, Donovan or The Zombies, all exhale the delicious perfume of decadence, typical of the late '60s. An era which had undoubtedly been a golden age, but whose traces ended up slowly fading away through the twists and turns of the history of pop music. This compilation of rare, unknown, lost or deleted tracks, "designed for presenting collectors' music to girls who never remember the title of the songs they love," is owed to two fine specialists whose legendary curiosity is unquenchable: sound designer Catherine Piault and selector/compiler Guillaume Sorge.
