Part industrial mantra, part musique concrète, this captivating debut continues Infrastructure's re-launch, bringing genuine new talent to the table. The classically-trained violinist, who until recently had little background or experience in electronic music, has put together a deeply ritualistic study in textural, layered compositions inspired by Middle Eastern traditions and rhythms. With a nod to the influential work of artists such as Muslimgauze, Irvine has constructed a complex world of electro-acoustic elements, carefully processed and arranged field recordings, acoustic percussion and Arabic sound-bytes.
