Sven Väth and company apply themselves to the 13th season in Ibiza, and Cocoon was able to get Cassy and Joris Voorn doing the Cocoon Heroes mix -- two absolute DJ highlights in this season. Cassy dives deep into the magic of dub house with a stunningly deep delay wonderland, "Kaimanawa" by the Cavalier aka Agnes sets forth a distinctive exclamation mark, while the percussive "Put That Record Back On" by DJ Dan in the remix of Peace Division remains committed to the traditions of U.S. house trax and "Cortometraggio" by Alfredo Caforio and Gianni Sabato aka Rush applies a very literal sense to bass culture. Mr. G (former member of The Advent) offers three jewels: tropical house deepness, the Kasper remix of "Sunday Blues" and tribal subsonic jazz. An open artistic approach is also what Joris Voorn presents on this release. His set elaborately intertwines a total of 30 tracks by, amongst others, such well-known producers/remixers like Oxia, John Tejada, Guy Gerber, Samuel L. Session and Radio Slave in his own inimitable way, illustrating the aesthetic bandwidth and deepness of modern electronic dance music. Constantly altering the tension, Voorn draws the line from Lawrence's melancholy and emotional sound sketches and Matthew Dekay & Lee Burridge's "Für die Liebe" via the sensual-percussive dub house of Microtrauma's "Pollenflug" and the groove-accented "Acid Jam" by Rhauder right up to the grand finale with a tropically-dense cover version of the Derrick May classic "Strings of Life" by Astro Farm aka Soul Mekanik. There is no better way to pay homage to the Balearic island's magic. Other artists include: Olaf Stuut, Matthew Burton, St. Thomas, Egal 3, Philip Arruda, &ME, Robosonic, Gerry Read, Youandewan, Jason Justin, Springwater, Steve Lawler, ONNO, Hot Since 82, Nicolas Masseyeff, Hobo, Stefny Winter, Truncate, Clio, Otra, Argenis Brito & Pier Bucci, Someone Else, Ronan Portela, Soy Mustafa, Luis Flores, Drumcell, Back Pack Poets, Himan, ReUP, Marco Faraone, Intruder (A Murk Production), Jei, Pearson Sound, Dario Zenker, Sigha, Paul Woolford & Psycatron, Shed, Wax, Tennis, Ryan Elliot and Adam Marshall.
