"2CD in six-panel digipak. Reflections in Repose captures the pure essence of Steve Roach's ever-deepening intimate embrace of silence, breath, rich harmonic inventiveness, and shifting liminal states; it's a sound and style completely unique to his electronic/ambient vision. Created over two evenings at the close of 2023, the music was recorded in the same sequenced flow as presented on the two discs' 116 minutes. The five long-form tracks were performed on a single instrument -- the Oberheim OB-X8 -- the modern equivalent of the iconic Oberheim OB-8 which Steve used 40 years ago in the making of his classic piece 'Structures from Silence.' Steve reflects, 'As I conceived these pieces, the intention and flow was to merge into the space where 'Structures' was born. Not as a nostalgic tribute but rather embodying the place where this essence lives within me. It's the realm where I fully inhabit the emotional suspension and dynamic connection to the transportive power of sound. Expressing it in the moment with clarity and focus.'"

"Steve Roach's new purely atmospheric statement hovers within a warm and embracing expression of etheric ambience. One Day of Forever pulls back the layers of memory, time and perception to express life's amber-lit emotions, continuing an intimate, mystical-revealing vision within Roach's work. In this one day of forever the meditation on longing, nostalgia, connection, loss, grace and gratitude transmutes from fleeting moments, forming into gentle epiphanies. This album furthers the refined intention within the elemental approach first expressed on his previous 2CD, Reflections in Repose. The pieces began with a minimal collection of instruments leading to emotive sonic choices which paint the impressionistic realm contained in each of the album's five long-form pieces. The core of the release is built around the beguiling sound of the Mellotron (originally an English electro-mechanical musical instrument developed in 1963, but here performed on a new Swedish digital version) and emotional warmth of the Oberheim OB-X8. Steve reflects, 'This music reaches towards the moments between moments, leading to the eternal now. Each day provides the opportunity to connect to a sense and knowing of forever in our own individual ways; it lives within my ears, eyes, heart and soul, nourished by the ineffable and my desire is to embrace each day into forever.' CD in four-panel digipak."

Stephen Hill, Hearts of Space Radio: "Abandoning all conventional notions of music as melody, harmony and rhythm, Mystic Chords & Sacred Spaces allows the listener blissful hours on the high frontier between deep listening music and the spirituality of pure sound. On the 20th anniversary of Roach's breathtaking album, Projekt collects all four parts into a single release -- close to five hours of electronic ambient music. Moving into the majestic realm of pure, non-rhythmic electro-acoustic soundworlds, these four discs are a milestone from a true artist of sound. His landmark statements -- including Dreamtime Return, Magnificent Void and Structures from Silence -- are all parts of the uninterrupted flow which built to this 2003 release. Roach's awe-inspiring sonic immersion delves into a spiritual dimension of sound. This release offers a listening experience creating a new sense of 'ambient orchestration' through a constantly shifting flow of textures that enter a sacred realm of music." Steve Davis, Neptune Currents, KKUP-FM: "Steve Roach has created an ambient masterpiece: a varied collection of totally absorbing, immersive soundworlds, clearly a milestone in electronic music." John Diliberto, Echoes: "It floats in a space of richly detailed but minutely shifting sound constructs that owe more to Gyorgy Ligeti and Mark Rothko than early Roach touchstones like Klaus Schulze and Salvador Dali. Roach is creating a free fall through space, less rooted in the pulsing techno-tribal sound of his 1990s music and more ecstatic in its evocations of something beyond. He carries you to groaning turgid depths then lifts you as electric guitar glides and synthesizers gurgle, shudder, and swell in an Aurora Borealis of sound." 4CD eco-wallet; limited edition of 1000; Originally released in 2003; 20th anniversary rerelease.

"Rest Of Life is Echoes Radio's March 2023 CD of the Month. Echoes is a daily two-hour music show distributed by PRX and broadcast on 120 radio stations from Maine to Hawaii (and Alaska!). Emerging from a place of deep peace, expansiveness and renewal, Rest Of Life is Steve Roach's new 130-minute opus to quietude. With a graceful, nurturing quality expressed in five different reflective moods, the first 70 minutes (disc one) is impressionistic, emotion-infused electronic soundscapes. As Steve reflects, 'I consciously tuned into the soul tone of Structures from Silence and Quiet Music. Not in a nostalgic sense but exploring and expressing where this feeling lives in me now in the depth of myself at this point in time. As stated in the Quiet Music release notes years ago, the heart of this deep listening occurs not only within the experience of the music itself but also within the place that you are after the music fades and you return to the silence, this rest of life.' Disc two, The Knowing Place, embraces a vast majestic textural landscape that plays with the unexpected harmony of chance and expanding time. The single, extended composition evolves over 60 minutes: gently ecstatic mystical spaces emerge and finally surrender to a deeper embrace of living, breathing, stately thematic chordal passages and melodic interweaves that include processed viola performed by Linda Kohanov. The spacious symphonic arc and emotional resonance of the track culminates in a restorative journey, fully integrated and renewed. 'The title Rest Of Life,' Steve reveals, 'is drawn from my relationship to time itself. The priceless value of time and how we engage, rest, immerse, play with, step out of, create and love within our precious time on this planet. Every day I feel the Rest Of Life revealing itself in subtle yet dramatic ways.' Two-CD in six-panel digipak."

"In a masterful expression of subtle, potent ambient-electronic minimalism, Steve Roach's newest release activates an internal opening of the mythic imagination. The slowly unfolding interweave of zones, drones and atmospheres displays compelling, deeply evocative textural pieces with an interconnected sense of mystery, awe and wonder. The gently engulfing interplay between the album's seven pieces provides contrasts of shadow and light, shimmering beauty and alluring soundscapes stretched into infinity. The revealing of the music unfolds into stately sonic formations of hypnotic weavings, hazy atmospheric swirls and murmuring reverberations. Roach establishes each sound world through engaging a multitude of techniques and hardware-based instruments with fluidity and grace. Manifesting from the essential foundational DNA of ambient music, this is an album of elegant, deeply nuanced audio alchemy. The expansive minimalism reveals a shadowy and emotional spaciousness that meditates on the enduring essence and power of sound and our place in the center of it."

Limited edition of 500. Composer and multi-instrumentalist Steve Roach (born in 1955 in California) is a longstanding leader in contemporary electronic music, drawing on the beauty and power of the earth's landscapes to create lush, meditative soundscapes influential on the emergence of ambient and trance. At the age of 20, inspired by the music of Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, and Vangelis, he taught himself to play synthesizer. After being a member of Doug Lynner's Moebius in the late '70s and early '80s, he began recording as a solo artist in 1982, and self-released his classic album Now that year, with distribution by Eurock. One year later Roach released another classic recording on Domino Records called Traveler. As with Don Slepian, Roach then signed to Fortuna Records and released several LPs and tapes. With Structures from Silence (1984) his music began taking enormous strides; the album's expansive and mysterious atmosphere was inspired directly by the natural beauty of the southwestern U.S. With subsequent works, including 1986's three-volume Quiet Music series, Roach honed his approach, developing his dense, swirling textures and hypnotic rhythms akin to environmental sound sculptures. In 1988, inspired by Peter Weir's 1977 film The Last Wave, Roach journeyed to the Australian outback and gathered field recordings of aboriginal life for what would become his widely acknowledged masterpiece, the double album Dreamtime Return (1988). A year later, he teamed up with percussionist Michael Shrieve and guitarist David Torn for The Leaving Time, an experiment in ambient jazz. After relocating to the desert outskirts of Tucson, Arizona, Roach established his own recording studio, Timeroom, and in the years to follow grew increasingly prolific, creating both as a solo artist and in tandem with artists including Robert Rich, Michael Stearns, Jorge Reyes, and Kevin Braheny -- in all, close to two dozen major works in the 1990s alone, all of them located at different points on the space-time continuum separating modern technology and primitive music. Since 2000 his enormous creative output, live concerts, and sonic innovations remain at a high level. This LP includes all the tracks from the legendary debut tape Now, plus the previously unreleased "Emotion Revealed."
