Tim Paris stands, not at the center, but as a narrator. As someone who knows that the voice is an attitude. "That Boy" is not a pose, but a mirror, ironic, direct, vulnerable. Paris moves between new wave house and club, always aware that identity is never fixed, but formed in the moment. This remix record is not a gathering of names. It is a situation, four perspectives on the same question: What does it mean to exist in sound? This cover of "That Boy," featuring Foremost Poets, created by Konstantin Fürchtegott Kipfmüller, a visual artist at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach under Heiner Blum, embodies this principle. Drawing inspiration from the urban environment, Kipfmüller transforms traces of decay, weather, and time into abstract narratives that, like the music of Tim Paris, Roman Flügel, Abe Duque and Red Axes, unfold meaning layer by layer.

"Heart held hope. We Us is a homage. It is the when, it is the where. It is not a dream, even if we conjured it. It is not a dream, even if it bonds us. If it was happiness, hell-bent we'd hear it. So go higher, you helper, you healer. Right the fallen ladder off its side. Harness my climb. Your straight lines contour the roundest thing in the world. Accidents that pass the test of time, passions for beauty that mystifies. Imprints to emulate. This album's of the night, but we didn't say it, some things just rise from where they're created. And then last we checked, morning had broken. With light. And awe. And grace. So here's my humble homely. The happiness of others is best when we believe. We Us is a homage. It is the when, it is the where." Features Allonymous, Lee Paris, Erika Angell, C.A.R, Aquarius Heaven, and Sex Judas. Download card included.

SOUVENIR 011EP
|
Likely is French artist Tim Paris' first release on Tiefschwarz's Souvenir label. These days he lives and works in London, collaborating with the likes of Ivan Smagghe and Dante Eprom and running his own label, Marketing Music. Lead track "Alike" skirts the line between futuristic tech house and discerning electro while "Unlike" mixes live instruments with plug-in madness. Think Depeche Mode writing an experimental instrumental on the moon in 2012 and you're halfway there.
