Upwards, the Crimes I Committed is Phil Maggi's twentieth album -- a body of work five years in the making, conceived between 2019 and 2024 across a period that moved through pandemic stillness and intense creative immersion: paintings, drawings, and deep readings in Islamic Iranian spirituality (particularly the illuminationist philosophy of Sohrawardi and Imaginal concept conceived by Henry Corbin), pursued at home and across a handful of studios -- La Rouille (Liège), Koko-Studios (Sprimont), Le Laboratoire Central (Brussels), and his own Iva Bedlam Studios. The music is mixing all sort of assorted sounds which are familiar to the world of the composer (ambient-atmospheric, soundscapes and free-jazz with a touch of concrete music). Into this singular space, Maggi invited a circle of collaborators and kindred spirits -- Catherine Graindorge, Roxane Leuridan (Ensemble Hopper), Pavel Tchikov (Ogives, Sopa Boba), Zoé Pireaux, Marie Billy (Ogives), Pascal Di Pinto, Gabriel Marguerie, and HP Desrosiers (Zääär) -- each bringing their own distinct voice and artistry to the work. Phil Maggi (b. 1980, Liège) is a sound artist, composer and filmmaker whose practice spans electronic avant-pop (IVA BEDLAM), solo work released on Idiosyncratics and Sub Rosa Records.

Sound architect and filmmaker from Liège, Belgium Phil Maggi is known as the lead singer of heavy-rock combo Ultraphallus. He has shared the bill with Jerusalem In My Heart, Keith Rowe, Phill Niblock, Tuxedomoon, Sote, Thisquietarmy, and many others. The Encrimsoned is the second part of his diptych inspired by Henry Corbin's writings, which started with his previous album Animalwrath (SR 453CD). The Encrimsoned is a four-track album, harboring a few musical friends and usual collaborators (Maja Jantar, Tom Malmendier, Radwan Ghazi Moumneh, Sebastien Schmit, Gabriel Séverin, Xavière Fertin). Ranging from free-jazz to ambient-electronic contemporary art sound, this adventurous second and final chapter is an homage to Hardy Fox, pioneer and primary composer for The Residents. Inspiration: Henry Corbin, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Bela Tarr, Farid od'din Attar, Shihab od'din Sohrawardi, The Residents. Milky white vinyl.
