This was the first gig the band played since Robert had sacked Andy Anderson in Tokyo, four days before. Vince Ely subbed on drums for the entire North American leg of this tour. Great audio quality.

The Cure had been gradually building their US fan base when they embarked on their third American tour to promote their 1984 studio release, The Top. This recording was made on that tour, and features the band during their most defining musical period. Coming off the success of hits like "Let's Go To Bed" and "Boys Don't Cry," Robert Smith and the band had finally come to the point where they could take The Cure's eccentric, characteristically dark sound and combine it with a more radio-friendly approach.

On April 1980, The Cure started their very first tour out of Europe, including three nights at Hurrah, New York, and on the very first night of such an exciting adventure for the Crawley four is when this gem was recorded. Presenting their classic second album Seventeen Seconds to a loving (and sometimes confrontational) American audience, the giants of post punk prove to be in top shape with a bullet proof repertoire to please any die-hard fan. 12 tracks that prove beyond any doubt why they'd turn into untouchable giants.

2021 repress. Seventeen Seconds was the second album by The Cure originally released in 1980. It was too bleak for bassist Michael Dempsey who left after hearing Robert Smith's demos. Smith went his own merry/miserable way in the end and the album is a fine example of their spindly proto-goth. It contains one of their finest moments in menacing single "A Forest" which exemplifies the dark nature of the material on the album.

2022 repress. 140 gram LP on grey vinyl. Recorded in 1981, this classic album took the band further down the road of despair, initiated with Seventeen Seconds, with an album full of mournful atmospheric tracks, including their hit single, "Primary". "Robert Smith has expressed his appreciation for the music of Joy Division and I would say that this album, Faith, is The Cure's Closer -- dark, monotone, toy drumming with layers of anguish and compelling lyrics. 'The Funeral Party' is like Joy Division's 'Eternal' -- dealing with loss in an effective, but original way. I compare The Cure's Faith album to Joy Division's Closer only to express how well I feel Robert Smith managed to make an effective album -- this is original, unique and beautiful music."

2023 repress. The undisputed leaders of the early gothic scene, and a seminal band that contributed to the rise of British post-punk, The Cure recorded their debut album Three Imaginary Boys at London's Morgan Studios and released it in May 1979. After touring for almost all of 1977, the band changed their name to The Cure and rearranged their line-up with the sacking of Porl Thompson, giving birth to an unusual power trio. This line-up lasted only for their first album, making it unique in its essentially minimal sound. The year was now 1978, and the three (imaginary?) boys soon signed to Chris Parry's Fiction Label.
