Double LP version. The official soundtrack to Jean-Cosme Delaloye's documentary about the life and career of Detroit techno pioneer Carl Craig, Desire: The Carl Craig Story is presented on 2x12" vinyl as well as CD. The collection, coming via his prolific and seminal Planet E Communications, features music from across Craig's vast catalog, including several tracks that have never previously seen full release. Its selections span his many aliases and projects, offering a rare glimpse into the full scope of his groundbreaking career. Among the rare and remastered tracks featured is "No More Words" -- originally released in 1991, newly reissued on vinyl and available digitally for the first time. A foundational track in the Detroit techno canon, "No More Words" captures the emotive synths and tight grooves of Craig's sound that would soon resonate across dance floors worldwide. Its reissue marks a moment of reflection on the genre's roots and evolution. Another remastered track from Craig's extensive archive is "The Truth," a deep cut from Craig's discography under his Designer Music alias, now widely available for the first time a quarter-century after its original release. The film's end credits are scored by the contemplative Meditation 4, an ambient production previously only available on Craig's 2013 Masterpiece compilation CD for Ministry of Sound. Iconic remixes such as his Grammy-nominated rework of Junior Boys' "Like A Child" is included alongside lesser-known but equally epic remixes such as his sublime 2012 mix of Slam's "Azure," which is employed for the film's title credits and had previously only seen a limited release. Also featured across the soundtrack's multiple formats are iconic Carl Craig productions under his 69, Psyche/BFC and Innerzone Orchestra aliases, and collaborations with Moritz von Oswald and Francesco Tristano. The soundtrack serves as a companion to the new documentary directed by Jean-Cosme Delaloye and produced by Sovereign Films, which follows Carl's journey from Detroit's middle-class roots to global stardom, set against the city's decline and recovery. The film explores his work at the intersection of music, art, and culture, from his collaborations with Bottega Veneta to his Party/After-Party installation, acquired by the Detroit Institute of Arts and exhibited at MOCA Los Angeles. Featuring interviews with Gilles Peterson, Roni Size, Laurent Garnier, DJ Minx, Kenny Larkin, Moritz von Oswald, and James Lavelle, Desire highlights Carl's championing of Detroit's Black creative excellence and the often-overlooked African-American roots of electronic music.

From techno to electronic cross-over classical, and now back again -- Carl Craig's Versus project continues to morph and evolve with the release of five beatless versions taken from the eponymous album. These pieces "without electronics" give primacy to the orchestral texture of the instruments and to Carl Craig's close work with Les Siècles during the recording sessions at Davoux studio. With this new take on four Planet E catalogue classics, Carl Craig and Francesco Tristano transport their listeners into a new time space.

InFiné hand-picked a clutch of up-and-coming producers to remix tracks from Carl Craig for the Versus project. Jazzy-house renaissance man Henrik Schwarz brings his horn- and piano-heavy world music influence to "The Melody". French producer Antigone lightens it up with his version of "At Les", built on a vintage beat reminiscent of the early days of IDM. Benedikt Frey brings a half-driving, half-ambient rendition of "Domina" that retains enough strings to keep fans of Tri Repetae-era Autechre (1995) blissing throughout. Tom Trago provides another version of "The Melody" -- a harder slice of functional, dancefloor-ready techno by Dutch producer.

"revolutionary art is not determined by its avantgarde content; nor its formal or technical trickery, its interpretation of reality or its verisimilitude, but, rather, by how much it revolutionizes our thinking and imagination; overturning our preconceptions, bias and prejudice and inspiring us to change ourselves and the world" --Jeff Sawell's text on the cover of More Songs About Food and Revolutionary Art. Carl Craig's 1997 album features such timeless highlights as "Televised Green Smoke," which, after a short introduction, floats in on a haze, working through the classic blueprint of dance music -- the gradual addition of layered, complementary elements -- until it reaches a soft peak. "Red Lights" works a slow-grind breakbeat, cycling through the Paperclip People oscillator with strings in the background and an atmosphere reminiscent of The Godfather. "Dreamland" and "Butterfly" are closer to traditional Detroit productions, sharp and focused but rather melancholy; the former is a reach-out to the Britain-Detroit axis (As One, The Black Dog, B12), while the latter evokes the classic late '80s productions of Craig's friend Derrick May (who co-produced a later track on the album, "Frustration"). The Maurizio dub "Dominas" is nocturnal and unhurried, even despite the insistent beat and a female vocal sample repeating the title one word after another -- it's included here, though it was left off the original vinyl release. Another classic, "At Les," balances a few gently cascading chords with a rhythm program that keeps pushing the track forward and faster. Planet E and Rush Hour now present a remastered reissue of this techno classic.

Originally released in 2005, this is a completely remastered and reworked version of Detroit techno legend Carl Craig's seminal 1995 record Landcruising. Here, the DJ and producer reveals his old skool techno side, which made him so popular in the first place. The Album Formerly Known As... also features new track "Sparkle," as well as new ambient versions of "Technology" and "Home Entertainment." This music is timeless and essential, and there are plenty of people who missed out on this the first time around. A history-making piece of Detroit music. Tip!

A stunning Carl Craig mix CD, only released in the Czech Republic! Carl doesn't publicly DJ anymore, but you can feel the sense of joy and euphoria in the selection and presentation of his favorite tracks from his own stable. Hearing the subtly tweekied version of the Paperclips People's all-time speaker booming "Floor" at the beginning of this CD is just one of the many pleasures offered by this highly enjoyable mix. Planet E's reputation is for carefully choosing tracks that work and this CD displays their agenda all at once, in one piece, in perfectly exquisite fashion. "Compiled and mixed live by Carl Craig and DJ Peter Anthony of two Technics turntables with a Pioneer DJM-500 DJ Mixer, November 1999 at Electron Labs, Detroit USA. Post-production by Carl Craig featuring the Korg KAOSS Pad at Electron Labs, Detroit. Featuring: Chaz Vincent: "Dream Zenith 2", Paperclip People: "Floor", Designer Music: "Stevie Knows", Alton Miller: "Exstasol", Common Factor: "North Nights", Recloose: "Soul Clap 2000", Paperclip People: "Steam", Gemini: "Crossing Mars", Common Factor: "Pisces Groove", Chaz Vincent: "Tom Cat", BFC: "Galaxy", Common Factor: "Will"."
