...Volume 2 (1926-1938). This second volume aural document is devoted to the Brussels Surrealist Group, 1926, following in the surrealist footsteps that Dada, Pansaers et Correspondance Volume 1 (1917-1926) established. On this compilation you can hear rare documents, including the voice of Magritte explaining why it's impossible to answer the questions of journalists. As a nucleus started forming in 1924 around Magritte, Nougé, Lecomte, etc., dissension arose, spawning Correspondance (1924-26). This release documents the editorial activities of Magritte and Mesens, the only issue of Sophage (1925), and the obvious influence of Dada (Schwitters was a contributor). The avant-garde is stateless, but this release, along with the other two releases in the series, limit themselves to the geographical space comprised between France, Germany and The Netherlands, where the main language is French. This region's experiments and discoveries are missing in French and international anthologies. This compilation, and the project as a whole, is an urgent attempt to document an important aspect of surrealism that most surely would have disappeared into dusty archives, if not released to the world. Other artists include: Louis Scutenaire, Marcel Mariën, Paul Colinet, André Souris, Paul Delvaux, Constant Malva, Achille Chavée and Fernand Dumont.
